The Minister of Energy, George Papanastasiou, plays a special role in the Commission in the Cyprus-Greece electric interconnection, as he explained to the Cyprus News Agency, the project is European.
He had been called upon to comment on the GSI geopolitical dimension to say that management needs to be done by agencies such as ADMIE, the European Union itself, and in particular, the European Commission.
However, he did not want to expand more.
The decision to implement the project is made, but as long as it delays it creates new environments, which must be constantly evaluated, the Energy Minister said.
Asked whether specific steps were agreed for the next period during his meeting with his Greek counterpart, Mr. Papanastasiou said that both sides agreed that the statements should be limited to a minimum and to enter more human capital and effort in the direction of implementation.
