The United States is preparing additional sanctions against Moscow if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not soon end the war in Ukraine, Reuters reports, citing high-ranking American officials.
According to the same sources, President Trump could adopt measures that will hit the Russian economy hard, with restrictions on the banking and energy sectors.
However, he expects Kiev's European allies to take initiatives for the next steps, further increasing the pressure on Moscow.
According to Reuters information, US officials have already informed their European interlocutors that Washington supports Brussels' proposal to use frozen Russian assets to buy US weapons for Ukraine.
They do not rule out the same happening with Russian funds located in the US.
