The European Union reached an agreement on tougher sanctions against the Russian energy sector, as part of the 19th package of measures, aimed at minimizing the resources with which the Kremlin finances the war in Ukraine.
According to the Danish Presidency of the European Union, the package of measures includes a complete halt to imports of Russian liquefied natural gas and additional measures against the fleet of tankers used by Moscow to circumvent Western sanctions.
At the same time, in a post on the "X" platform, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, welcomes the decision of the United States, noting that she was informed about it by the American Secretary of the Treasury.
He emphasizes that with the imminent adoption of the 19th package of sanctions of the European Union, a clear message is being sent from both sides of the Atlantic, that the collective pressure on the aggressor Russia will continue.
