Cyprus is not only the azure sea and ancient stones, but also the amazing world of trees, each with its own unique character. This collection of photos is a bright walk around the gardens and streets of the island.
Here are a few short facts about our heroes.
Judino tree is one of the first spring flashes with a lilac-pink color, and flowers grow directly from the barrel and old branches. The legend connects its name with Judah, from the shame of which the white flowers of the tree allegedly stained in the pink.
Unusual Eryatrine flowers similar to corals or claws of a bird of prey, often bloom on completely naked branches.
Bauhinia (orchid wood) got its name for flowers, reminiscent of exotic orchids in its shape. And its leaves in the form of a butterfly or heart are considered a symbol of harmony.
Terrible spikes on the trunk of Horisia are not needed for beauty. They protect the soft, accumulating moisture on the barrel from animal encroachments in arid periods.
Since ancient times, cypresses are considered a symbol of eternal life and immortality, so they are often planted in sign and memorial places.
This selection is part of the project of 30 articles dedicated to the anniversary of the "Herald of Cyprus", which is 30 years old this year.
