A difference of € 87 arises between the cheaper and the most expensive supermarket, based on a comparison of 234 products from e-kalathi in September, according to a survey by the Cyprus Consumer Association.
The comparison took place on September 28 between Sklavenitis, Athenian, Ioannidis, Metro and Alpha Mega, which have the most common products in the application.
According to the link, Sklavenitis was cheaper supermarket, with the price of 234 products amounting to € 930.60, while Alpha Mega was more expensive for € 1017.05 for the same products. The second cheaper was Athenianitis with € 958.91, followed by the supermarket Ioannidis with € 1000.03 with the subway with € 1000.05.
By product category, the link compared 38 common products (yogurt, cheese, halloumi). Sklavenitis was cheaper overnight again with € 106.82 and the more expensive Alpha Mega with € 116.54. The order of other supermarkets was the same, with Athinitis at € 112.04, Ioannides at € 114.47 and the subway at € 115.42.
In non -alcoholic beverages, including soft drinks, coffee, water, juices, compared to 36 common products, the price in Sklavenitis amounted to € 121.02, at Athinitis at € 124, in Ioannidis at € 127.82, in the subway at € 129.67 and at Alpha Meg.
In fresh milk, in a total of 17 products, Sklavenitis was € 36.44, while the difference in other supermarkets was smaller: Athenian € 37.65, Ioannidis € 37.67, Metro € 37.80 and Alpha Mega € 37.81.
In a total of 28 personal care products (Pans, shampoo, soaps, sanitary wipes, baby wipes, toilet paper) the price in Sklavenitis was € 139.81, while almost € 10 was the more expensive Athenian at € 149.40, Ioannidis € 151.85, 155.85.
In another 17 joint products involving bakery, Sklavenitis and Athinitis it was close to € 50.48 and € 50.79 respectively. Ioannidis followed with € 51.80, Alpha Mega with € 54.49, while the subway was more expensive with € 55.05.
According to the Association, the total cost of the same supermarkets in the provinces (those who have stores in other provinces) remains generally unchanged.
The Association also states that the total number of products in e-kalathi was reduced in September compared to August. In detail, Sklavenitis had 458 products registered in September, from 461 in August, Ioannidis 428 from 433, Metro 399 from 412, Athinitis 397 from 399, Alpha Mega 362 from 371, Lidl 115 from 117, and only POP 176 from 176 from 170.
"The Cyprus Consumer Association will monitor pricing on e-kalathi and will continue with transparency and boldness to publicize its conclusions coming from the processing and evaluation of prices in e-kalathi," the link said in its announcement.
