Marios Charalambidis, by decision of the Cabinet, the first patient lawyer

Marios Charalambidis was appointed on Wednesday by the Council of Ministers as the first lawyer of the patient.

In statements after the ministerial meeting, Health Minister Michalis Damianos spoke of a historic day for the Cyprus Health System.

"With the decision of the Council of Ministers on the appointment of Marios Charalambides as the first lawyer of the patient we are founding an institution that gives voice, strength and protection to every citizen. Today's day marks a new era for public health," he said.

He said it is a step that enhances the transparency and reliability of the system, but also an act of respect for the patient.

Mr Damianos said that the decision is an important development for organized patients and for the Cyprus Health System, adding that this institution was a constant demand of the Federation of Cyprus Associations (WHO), a request today.

"Organized patients claimed an independent body capable of effectively defending their rights and contributing substantially to improving the health system," he said.

Who is Marios Charalambides

Marios Charalambidis, as the day, was the Secretary General of the Federation of Patients Association of Cyprus and belongs to the DIPA party party, with whom he was also a candidate for MEP.

Marios Charalambidis holds BSC (Hons) Accounting & Finance and MSc Business Management from the University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich, UK. He is also a certified employment worker by the Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB) Cyprus, with the recognition and support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

Marios Charalambidis has a highly successful professional career in well -known and pioneering organizations, having extensive and years of experience in managerial positions, with emphasis on the areas of the Human Resources, Marketing, Strategy, Education and Counseling and Counseling Educational programs in pioneering organizations.

He has also been a senior lecturer for many years of various business issues, including business ethics and corporate social responsibility/responsibility, both at the leading academic institution in Cyprus and at a leading University of London. Since 2021, it has been the position of Europa Donna Cyprus Executive Director, with rich work and excellent results, proceeding with significant incisions for complete upgrading and rational development of the Organization. Marios Charalambidis also serves as Secretary General of the Federation of Patients Associations of Cyprus (OASAK).
