CyI receives ISO certification for health and safety excellence

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) has been awarded the ISO 45001:2018 certification by TÜV NORD, a leading global provider of safety and quality certifications. This prestigious recognition underscores our Institute’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of occupational health and safety (OHS) across all our operations.

ISO 45001:2018 is the first international standard for occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS). It provides a comprehensive framework for organizations to manage risks, improve employee safety, reduce workplace hazards, and create safer working conditions. This standard is designed to help organisations of all sizes and industries proactively enhance their OHS performance in alignment with global best practices.

Achieving ISO 45001:2018 certification involved rigorous evaluation and continuous improvement of our health and safety policies, procedures, and practices. This certification confirms that The Cyprus Institute has implemented a robust and effective OHSMS that meets the stringent requirements of the standard, ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff, students, researchers, and visitors.

The ISO 45001:2018 certification brings numerous benefits to The Cyprus Institute, including:

While we celebrate this significant achievement, our journey toward excellence continues. The Cyprus Institute is also actively working towards achieving ISO 14001:2015 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems. This next step reflects our dedication not only to safeguarding the health and safety of our people, but also to minimising our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices across all our activities.

As we celebrate this achievement, we also look ahead. The ISO 45001:2018 certification, coupled with our ongoing efforts toward ISO 14001:2015 certification, lays a strong foundation for creating a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future for our Institute and the wider community.

This achievement is more than just a certification – it is a milestone that underscores our commitment to excellence in every aspect of our work. It reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team, who have embraced the principles of safety, health, and environmental stewardship in their daily activities.
