In the Ayos Nikolaos area in Limassol in the evening there was an alarming incident, which, by a happy chance, was without the victims.
From the facade of the apartment building, the window parapet suddenly hit, falling directly onto the sidewalk.
The incident happened in the lively part of the district, where there are shops on the ground floor of the building, including a meat shop. Fortunately, at the time of collapse nearby there were no passers -by. However, given the nature of the place - with an active pedestrian movement in the daytime - the situation could turn into a real tragedy.
The parapet, along with fragments of building materials, collapsed from a great height and strength. As shown by shots published by Omegalive, the wreckage turned out to be massive and extremely dangerous. The incident caused serious concern among local residents and entrepreneurs.
The state of the facade and the general technical condition of the building cause obvious issues. Obviously, this incident emphasizes the urgent technical inspection and repair of obsolete and unsafe buildings in this area in order to avoid potential tragedies in the future.
