On Friday morning, June 6, in one of the apartments on the ground floor of an apartment building in Larnac, a fire occurred, allegedly caused by overload of the extension cord.
The fire began in the microwave, putting the life of the elderly owner of the apartment and her foreign assistant.
At about 05:19 Two firefighters from Larnaki left for the scene. According to the press secretary of the fire service Andreas Kettis on the X platform, the fire fighters entered the smoky apartment in the respiratory devices, turned off the electricity and organized the ventilation of the room.
According to Kettis, a passerby passed by the smoke and helped to take both women on the balcony, where they were before the rescuers arrived. Women who managed to breathe smoke were provided with first medical care for an ambulance.
The preliminary cause of the fire is called the extension of the extension cord, which led to a failure in the wiring. The final conclusions will be drawn after the examination, which will be conducted by the specialists of the fire service and the electromechanical department.
