A video camera installed by the Game Management Department of the Republic of Cyprus near a watering hole in the forests of Troodos recorded fragments of the battle of three mouflons at once. First, two wild rams attack each other. Then a third person joins the fray.
Mouflon- a wild sheep that is endemic to the nature of Cyprus. These animals have lived on the island for about 8,000 years.
Conflicts between male mouflons are common in Cyprus. They mostly engage in battle for dominance and territory during mating season. Sometimes injuries inflicted by the powerful horns of an opponent are very severe and lead to death.
And here was another case
About two years ago, employees of the Game Management Department discovered two male mouflons in the buffer zone near the Xeros River, who had gotten their horns caught in a collision. The wild sheep were in danger, so it took human intervention to free them and set them free.
