According to the report of the ACI Europe “Air Connectivity Report 2025”, published in June, the airports of Larnaki and Paphos took first place among European airports in terms of expansion of the route network, measured by the number of flights and directions. The increase compared to 2024 was 18%, which became an impressive indicator.
In addition, Cyprus reached the second place among European countries in terms of growth in direct flights compared to 2019 - the increase was 22%. According to the total number of areas, including the joint flights, the country took third place, showing an increase of 8%.
Success was ensured by the strategy of the Hermes Airports operator aimed at expanding the route network and increasing the attractiveness of Cyprus for airlines.
In 2025, 11 new directions were opened from Larnaki and 4 more of pathos, 8 of them will act year -round. Among the latest routes are flights to the Armenian city of Gyumri, which Wizz Air will begin to execute from the end of September.
Meanwhile, the Larnac Airport received a prestigious award, having honored the Highly Commended honorary title in the airport category with a passenger flow from 5 to 10 million people as part of the Prize of the Best Airports of Europe. The solemn ceremony recently took place in Athens during the 35th annual Assembly and the General Conference of the International Council of European Airports (ACI Europe).
