A new superweapon in the hands of patrol policemen since September: tablets and access to databases of Interpol, the Schengen zone and others. So it will be easier to determine criminals and find stolen cars and other property. The innovation allows you to comply with the requirements of the Schengen agreement.
On Monday, September 1, patrol policemen will receive tablets connected to the central information system of the police. They will be equipped with a web application of Cy Patrol Check.
Now the police will have direct access to international platforms, such as Interpol and the Schengen database. This will allow you to quickly identify those who are on the international wanted list, identify suspicious persons, as well as find stolen vehicles and stolen items.
In other words, the patrol will not have to contact a colleague in the site to get information about a person under supervision. They will receive instant access to all data regarding their person who is interested in without any intervention.
Police units of many countries have been having such equipment for many years. By September 1, Cyprus police will be ready to use it. Training with the installed software has been conducted at the Police Academy since July last year.
According to the information of the Filelefteros publication, the Cyprus police attach great importance to the issue of using tablets, since it is inextricably linked with the complete integration of the Republic of Cyprus into the Schengen agreement.
The Mobile Police is one of the criteria for the integration of the republic into the Schengen zone and will be subject to evaluation and monitoring by the European Commission. It is no accident that the heads of police services who will use tablets are required to report to the authorized assistant to the police chief every 15 days. In particular, they will transmit digital data on all checks, as well as about their results.
