Chrysochus policy: Cyprus flavor and gate to Akamas

When large resorts tired by the noise, and you want silence and Cyprus color-go to the north-west of the island. Here, far from crowds of tourists, you will find a Chrysochus policy. This is a charming town and gate to the reserved Akamas.

 A little story

The modern Chrysochus policy stands on the site of the ancient city. It was called Marion, was founded, according to legend, in the VIII century BC. And he became one of the significant Cypriot cities-states that actively traded with Greece and the Middle East. Its flowering came for a classic period, and the wealth of the city is confirmed by archaeological finds: sculptures, ceramics, jewelry.

The destroyed Marion was around 312 BC. Later, in its place, the city of Arsinoi was built (named after the daughter of King Ptolemy), and only then - the modern Chrysochus policy.

Findings that can be seen in the local archaeological museum are reminiscent of the rich past.

 Chrysochus policy today

Today the town has retained its authenticity. Life here flows slowly and measuredly.

All life is concentrated on the central square. Here are traditional taverns and coffee houses. Especially the magical atmosphere reigns for Christmas when the streets are decorated with lights and music plays everywhere.

Stores with handmade things deserve special attention. These are real treasures of unique gifts. Local craftsmen sell their products here. Ceramics, jewelry, textiles, natural cosmetics - it is simply impossible to get out of there empty -handed. And for dinner, you can choose one of the taverns.

 Gates in wild

The value of the Chrysochus policy is the proximity to Akamas Park, the natural reserve. In just a few kilometers of prices, there is a bath of Aphrodite. From here, picturesque pedestrian paths begin, from which exciting views of a blue lagoon open. You can explore the peninsula on an ATV or buggy, or go on a walk from the Latchi port.

The Chrysochus policy is an ideal base for studying the wild nature of the West Cyprus. Come to really relax with your soul and body.
