The incident with the participation of foreign citizens occurred late in the evening on Monday, June 16, in the Dasudi park in Paphos.
According to the police, as a result of a fierce fight using knives, bit and other weapons, at least five people were injured. Two of them were hospitalized with serious injuries, two were provided with medical care on the spot, and they were discharged, and the fifth is undergoing further examination.
The police immediately began the investigation on suspicion of trying to kill, as well as a number of other serious crimes, including conspiracy to commit a crime, inflicting serious bodily harm, illegal wearing of cold weapons, hooliganism, attack and mass riots.
At the moment, three suspects are wanted. The investigating authorities study the circumstances of the conflict, which, according to preliminary information, occurred between two warring groups, presumably citizens of Syria. Witnesses said that the participants in the brawl used not only knives and bats, but even scrap and sledgehammer, which indicates a high level of aggression and intention to do serious harm.
The law enforcement forces intensified patrols in the area of the incident and call on everyone who has any information about the incident or wanted persons to contact the Paphos police immediately.
The incident caused concern among local residents, and the authorities said that they would take all the necessary measures to prevent such cases in the future and ensure security in public places.
