Palmas: Cooperation with Israel has been building for many years - Joint exercises in 2026

The cooperation of the Republic of Cyprus with Israel has been building for many years, both at the defense, economic, technological and tourism levels, said the Minister of Defense, when asked to comment on the joint action plan of Greece - Cyprus - Israel.

Speaking to the "Morning Itinerary", Vassilis Palmas explained that the relevant memorandum of cooperation signed by senior officers of the three countries concerns the planning, content and financing of joint security activities, in a period of increased geopolitical fluidity in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Mr. Palmas emphasized that for 2026, the program of joint and bilateral military exercises will be more enhanced, with an emphasis on naval and air exercises and on dealing with modern threats.

He also noted that the Republic of Cyprus maintains joint action plans and defense cooperation with countries in the region.
