The municipality of Tala (Paphos) announced the introduction of fines of 50 euros against irresponsible dog owners.
The decision was made after numerous residents' complaints about the uncleaned excrement of animals in public places.
According to the council, the dogs are spinning daily around the village unattended, without leashes or with the owners who do not clean them, which creates an “unbearable situation”. This led to frequent conflicts between domestic animals and other residents.
The fines will be imposed on those who do not remove the excrement of their pets or do not carry special bags with them. Similar measures are provided for walking dogs without a leash or escort.
In addition, the municipality recalled that additional sanctions are waiting for owners whose animals do not have microchips or necessary licenses.
