The United States submitted a draft resolution asking the Security Council to approve for a period of 26 months, i.e. until the end of 2027, the mandate of the "peace commission". According to Trump's peace plan, this committee will oversee the governance of Gaza and the "international stabilization force" that is planned to be deployed in the enclave.
The text welcomes the establishment of the "peace commission", which will be chaired by Donald Trump himself. It is a transitional body, which will operate until the Palestinian Authority has satisfactorily completed its reform program.
In addition, the resolution authorizes the development of an "international stabilization force", which will be able to use "all necessary measures" to carry out its mandate, respecting international law.
According to the Trump plan, the mission of this force is - in cooperation mainly with Israel and Egypt - to support border security, to proceed with the demilitarization of Gaza, the disarmament of non-state armed groups and to train the Palestinian police.
