The Council of Ministers approved a proposal to improve and simplify the procedures regarding the coverage of travel, accommodation and food expenses for patients and their companions traveling abroad for treatment purposes.
The Minister of Health stated that with today's decision the patients are significantly facilitated and the time required for the examination and compensation of their applications is reduced.
In particular, the data collection process is simplified as only a tax return will be needed, and the presentation of three offers for air tickets is abolished.
In addition, in the event that proof of residence is not provided, there is a possibility of return of 18% of the total allowance, as is the case with civil servants.
The new arrangements will apply to applications submitted from here on.
