Cyprus continues to introduce modern technologies for the comfort of vacationers.
In the municipalities of Paralimni and Dherinia, the installation of “smart” lockers for storing personal belongings has been completed - innovative smart boxes that are already available on the most popular beaches in the region.
According to the municipality, two storage points have appeared on the famous Fig Tree Bay beach, five more on Vrysi beach, and an additional station is planned to be installed on Kapparis beach in April 2026.
These modern devices have become a real solution for those who do not know where to put their valuables when going swimming or playing sports on the embankment. Smart boxes are equipped with a palmprint identification system or a four-digit personal code, and an internal cable for charging your phone - ideal for those who spend the whole day at the beach.
The cost of renting a box depends on its size and time of use. Small boxes will cost on average from €1 per hour to €8.90 per day, and large ones - from €2 to €12.90 for daily use.
The system is managed and maintained by a private company, which determines operating conditions and tariffs. Municipality representatives note that the installation of smart safes is part of a program to digitally modernize Cyprus beaches, aimed at improving the tourist experience. The project is being implemented with the support of private investment and has received positive feedback from both local residents and tourists.
According to officials, the new system not only solves the problem of storing personal belongings, but also increases the level of security on the beaches: now vacationers can swim safely, knowing that their smartphones, keys and documents are reliably protected.
In addition, the Paralimni authorities plan to expand the project to other resort areas in the region - Protaras, Pernera and Agia Triada, where the flow of tourists is traditionally especially high in the summer months.
Thus, Cyprus is taking another step towards becoming not only the sunniest, but also the most technologically advanced destination in the Mediterranean, where you can relax with maximum comfort and safety.
