Frederick University and Bank of Cyprus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the aim of developing a meaningful and mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of education, research and innovation.
According to a statement from the University, the Memorandum was signed by George Koussis, Executive Director Technology & Operations of the Bank of Cyprus, and by Professor Christos Themistos, Dean of Frederick University Technical School.
"The Memorandum sets the framework for joint actions, such as internships of students, sponsorships and scholarships, research projects and educational programs aimed at bridging the gap between academic and labor market," it says.
The collaboration is added, "includes, inter alia, internships of students/three, exchange of employment opportunities, career fairs, as well as training and upgrading skills of the Bank's staff through the Frederick University Educational Center and the Microcredounts offered through the EU
At the same time, cooperation is planned at the level of research and innovative programs, in areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data mining, security engineering and mobile computing.
The signature ceremony, held at Frederick University in Nicosia, was also attended by Bank of Cyprus, Yiannis Ioannou, Manager People & CEO Office, and Christos Demosthenes, Manager Governance Technology & Operations, while Fredericks, Frederick, Dr. Dr. Achilleas Achilleos from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics, as well as Dr. Nikos Kousis from the Department of Business Administration.
