In Cyprus, the incidence of liver cancer is increasing in Cyprus, which makes information, prevention and regular medical examination more necessary than ever, says the Cyprus and Friends' Association of Cyprus' Prometheus', who is actively involved in Pan -European and Pan -European Information liver.
According to the Association's announcement, "every year thousands of new incidents are recorded in Europe while worldwide, liver cancer is the 5th in incidence and the 3rd cause of cancer death".
"Prometheus" states that "although more often affects people over 60, it can also occur in younger, due to inheritance, chronic hepatitis or excessive alcohol consumption with the diagnosis of the disease diagnosed at an advanced stage when treatment options are limited".
He adds that "many cases of liver cancer can be prevented, reducing exposure to known risk factors that are the restriction of alcohol and tobacco consumption, maintaining healthy body weight, avoiding contact with carcinogenic and carcinogenic treatment, liver cancer ”.
The "Prometheus" Association calls on the public, "to be informed about liver diseases, to carry out preventive checks and to support those who fight with liver cancer".
He mentions as risk factors for this form of cancer, "Chronic infection with hepatitis B or C virus, cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes, heredity, fatty liver (mash), fatty liver infiltration (MAFLD), exposure to aflatoxins steroids and rare hereditary diseases, such as Wilson's disease ”.
He adds that the symptoms of liver cancer are, among other things, "the feeling of fatigue and adversity, anorexia or weight loss, fever, nausea, or vomiting tendencies while in more advanced stages may occur, jaundice, abdominal swelling, abdominal pain.
Concluding "Prometheus" explains that "the diagnosis begins with clinical examination and laboratory testing for liver function, hepatitis and cancer markers, followed by imaging tests such as ultrasound, computed tomography, while in cases of suspicion, a biopsy is performed."
