At the meeting, held on July 30, in Ledra-Pallas, the Greco-Kiro and Turko-Kiru sides came to an agreement on the development of a roadmap, which will allow the Greek and Turkish languages in primary education.
As part of a joint statement made under the auspices of the Embassy of Slovakia, the Party of Democracy of the Construction of Turks, the Kipriota’s democracy proposed to study the possibility of organizing teaching both languages in elementary schools of both communities.
Party representatives emphasized that such a bilingual initiative supported by the UN and the EU can become a catalyst for the development of empathy and trust between communities, expanding the prospects for the long -term solution of the Cyprus problem. They also called on the leaders of both communities to more actively participate in the strengthening of inter -communal cooperation in the field of education.
During the meeting, the participants expressed deep grief in connection with recent fires in Limassol and Paphos, emphasizing the need for general awareness and solidarity to protect the environment in Cyprus. The next meeting of political parties is scheduled for September 24, 2025 at the invitation of DISY.
