The owner of the developer T&T and the airport operator Erjan Emrulla Turanla presented the Vision Cyprus Project project, which caused a wave of criticism and bewilderment in society.
Particular attention was attracted by the “key idea of the project” on the backfill of the marine water area and the construction of buildings on artificial islands. Turanla proposed to give the outlines of Cyprus the shape of the palm.
Despite the fact that the project was presented as a large -scale “vision of the future”, filled with animation and images of “citrus corridor” flying a taxi and objects designed for 15 million tourists, it was more accepted as a fantasy. Errors in the pronunciation of the names of cities in the official video also did not go unnoticed by the audience.
The Union of Architects made sharp criticism. Its President Onur Olguner called the Turanla "shame", reminding his unfulfilled obligations to the state. Separately, he condemned the proposal to build “artificial palm islands”, saying:
“We, Turko-Kipriotes, not wild tribes who meet the captains of European ships with spears in our hands.”
