Cypriot will go to Junior Eurovision

11-year-old Maria Pissaridis will go to Junior Eurovision 2024. The music competition will take place in Madrid on November 16th. Cyprus is participating for the tenth time.

The information was announced by the Cyprus Broadcasting Company on Wednesday.

Maria Pissarides began dancing in early childhood, then began to study the art of musical theater. Thus, the young artist plays the leading role in the musical “Matilda” in theaters in Cyprus. And in 2023, Maria, as part of the team, participated in the European original song competition, taking third place.

The Cypriot is currently studying at a performing arts school in the UK.

The song for the performer was written by Sofia Patsalidou, who herself participated in this competition ten years ago, together with Swedish producer and composer Armin Gilani.

Cyprus achieved its best results in 2004 and 2006 – 8th place among all participants. And the worst result was in 2017 – last place.
