Deputy Director of the Department of Development of Water Resources Cyprus, Giorgos Kazandis, said that six of the thirteen mobile vestments in the Moni area were successfully commissioned.
It is expected that all installations will earn by the end of the week, despite the delays caused by technical difficulties associated with automation and software, which are eliminated by specialists from the UAE.
Each installation is capable of producing up to 1000 cubic meters of water per day. The first six blocks have already begun to supply water to the southern pipeline serving the areas of Nicosia, Larnaki and Famagusta, which will save water reserves from Couuris dams for Limassol.
In pathos, the first of the two desalination installations began testing, and it is expected that it will be connected to the network in the coming days. Larger installations are planned to be commissioned in September.
Additionally, in the area it is slowly completing tests of a temporary desalination installation with a capacity of 2000 cubic meters per day. If the tests pass successfully, the water will begin to enter the network, strengthening the water supply of the areas of Payy and Kisserg. In September, it is expected to commission a more powerful installation, which will cover a significant part of the western low -powered territory of the pathos.
These efforts are aimed at improving water supply and saving water resources, which is especially important in the light of recent fires that damaged the infrastructure.
