How Larnaca is transformed

How Larnaca is transformed

In the next two years, 14 development projects totaling 130 million euros will end in Larnak. The city will become more convenient and modern, and the areas that are in decline today will be transformed.

School of Marine Research, Technology and Sustainable Development

The Faculty of TPAK University under this name will open next to the building of the Old Larnaki Airport and for a large municipal parking opposite the Mackenzie beach. The project budget is 20 million euros, it is funded from the state budget and European funds.

Marina Larnaki

During 2025, the bottom of the bottom will begin in Marina. For two more projects - the construction of the building of the sea club and landscaping - the Larnaki municipality will announce the tender within the year with the expectation that the work will begin in 2026.

Parks

By the end of the year, the park will be handed over in the settlement of TSAKKILERRO refugees (2.3 million euros) and Pattihio Park (6.7 million euros). The road infrastructure of the year will be launched by four projects by a budget of 34.6 million euros. All of them should be completed by 2026: - two intercepting parking lots; - the general modernization of the road network, the creation of bicycle roads with a length of 22 km and the allocated lanes for public transport with a length of 10 km; - the restoration and improvement of the historical center in the municipality of Livadia; - reconstruction of the historical quarter of Hagios Ioannis.

Improvement of space and commercial district

By the end of 2026, the improvement of Alkis and Acropolis will be completed, and the commercial district in the center of Larnaki will be laid out with tiles and will gain three new areas. Next year, they also plan to complete the repair of the Larnak-Decelei road.

Other projects

In the Droesh region, the construction of a state nursing home (6 million euros) will be completed, and anti -flood channels (3.8 million euros) will be upheld in Livadia.

Plans for the future

Three more projects are planned for the future, but their terms have not yet been determined. This is: - the long -awaited restoration of the building of the old hospital and the municipality move there. The building was supposed to be released in December 2022, but this has not yet happened, which increased the project budget to 10.5 million euros. The municipality threatens to sue the state health care services due to the breakdown of the deadlines; the creation of a single archaeological park based on three existing spaces: the territory of the Archaeological Museum of Larnaki, the ancient port in the area of Pampula and the Street of Agiu Neofita, where in 2016 a mosaic was found with the feats of Hercules. Project budget 4 million euros. It is delayed due to problems with the alienation of private land. The Department of Antiquities refused to implement the project partially, so everything was paused; - the creation of a center for ecological education at the salt lakes of Larnaki. It should arise on the site of the former leprosoria (its history can read here). If everything goes according to plan, work should begin in 2027. The center will take an area of 58,000 sq.m.
