We explore Cyprus without a car - 12 convenient bicycle routes

Fans of bike rugs feel in Cyprus at home - and not without reason. Cycledists will find everything that you like here: quiet country roads, asphalt highways, forest trails and rocky areas for real extremals. At the same time, almost every route accompanies the opportunity to stop in a traditional village, drink Cyprus coffee, relax at the monastery or admire the sunset by the sea. We have chosen 12 diverse routes for you - from easy walks to real trials for experienced athletes.

The route begins in the center of Geroskip and then leads to Limassol along the old road Paphos - Limassol. Between Geroskip and Colony turns left, towards the agia of Marinuda. Having drove through the village, you move further to the north, to the village of Maratunt. There, the road turns to the right, towards the village of Episcopies of the Paphos region (not to be confused with the same village on the territory of the British base). Shortly before the top of the hill, the route turns the route on the country road towards the golf resort and the monastery of the honest cross in the village of Minti. From here, on the asphalt road, you will reach Tsada, to which only 3 km. From Tsada, the route goes towards the pathos, where it ends.

The route is of medium complexity. It begins at the temple of St. Ap. Andrei and all Russian saints, then goes to the archaeological park of TAMAMASOS-one of the ancient ChiPr cities-cities. From there - towards the monastery of St. Iraklidia. From the monastery, the road leads through a pine forest and olive groves to the TAMAMSOS reservoir. You can rest in the village of Cambia, where you will be offered coffee and local sweets. Finally, the road descends to the picturesque village of Per Orinis.

Surface: Most of the route passes along dirt roads, sometimes along the asphalt length: 14.8 ksamama High point: 240 m. Relief: flat with several steep, but short lifting.

This route is intended for lovers of labor -intensive trips on mountain bicycles. Although there are few changes in the level here, the fact that most of the route passes on rocky soil requires experience and skills. The trail runs along the old road Limassol - Nicosia, in the Moni area turns to the primer and goes to the south to the coast. This part of the route is full of thrills and ends in the area of the Gavernors beach. You will need a mountain bike with 24 speeds.

Surface: 5 km on the asphalt coating and 10 km on an uneven surface. Sensitiveness: 15.4 km. Subject high point: 67 m.

From the village of Litrodontas, you get to the Maheras forest and, having passed 915 meters, get to the monastery of the same name. From there, the road goes to the west and passes through small villages of Lazania and Gurri, where it turns south to the pharmacas. From Pharmacas, the route goes southwest and descends to the main road Nicosia-Palekhori. From Palekhori, you will continue the way south in the direction of the village of Agros. Urovny of difficulty: relatively high, a highway is required. The output: for the most part, the asphalt coating. Sprinking: 51 km. Subject high point: 1,266 m. Samay low point: 419 m. Relief: Mountain.

The route begins at the annular interchange of the Larnaki port and goes west, along the Stratig Timaia Avenue, until the intersection reaches Tsakkilero, where it turns right, to Aradipp, heading to the north-west. Having drove through Aradippu, you will warm the village of Avdellerro and go to Atheno. From there, turning to the hut, you will go along the old road Nicosia - Larnak, through the villages Dali and Nisa, Kotsiatis and Margi. Then the route turns to the north, passes through the bogs and ends on a ring interchange on Tseriu Street, in the Kokkinesne region, near the capital.

Surface: Basically, asphalt coating. Steam: 54.5 km. Subject high point: 306 m. Sama low point: 5 m.

From the forest station in Stavros-Tis-PSOKAS, the road rises to the largest village in this area, Pano Panaya. Archbishop Makarios III, the first president of Cyprus, was born here. The monastery of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Chrisorotissa is located near this village. The route continues in the direction of the pathos.

Difficulty: Low, mainly descent. Outpost: country roads. Smins: 64.2 km. Subject high point: 1,255 m. Sama low point: 1 m. Relief: mountain.

 

Rizoeli Forest

A small forest of risolya is located next to the ring interchange on the outskirts of Larnaki, west of the village of Aradipp. There are many ground roads for lovers of mountain bicycles, as well as for those who like to ride through a beautiful forest or want to enjoy the view from the top of the hill.

Length: 65 kmsplicity: average, a mountain bike is required at 21 speeds. Overlines: Forest paths.

The route passes through the villages of Limassol in the region, as well as in some mountain villages in the foothills, such as agros. You can also go down towards Palekhori. From the ring interchange of the Germasya, you go to the north. You pass the same to the village and the dam, as well as the villages of Acrunda, Dieron and Aracap. There, the route turns to the west and continues to climb to the village of Kalo Khoro. In the direction of Limassol, a dirt road leading to the monastery of St. Mamanta. From there, the route begins to descend along the asphalt road, through the villages of Kapillo and Korfi, to get to the ring interchange of polemidia.

Difficulty: medium, a highway at 20 speeds is required. Sensus: 65.9 km. Subject high point: 729 m.

Circle in the region Famagusta

The route begins on the tourist beach of Larnaki and goes to the east, along the coastal road. He turns to the right on the annular denouement of Jew and passes through the territory of the British base. At the next denouement, he turns right again, passes by the power station of the yuble and along the outskirts of the village of Ormidia. Then - again to the right, past the village of Xilofagu. After that, you will go to Aiya-Nap through Liopetri, then along the road Aiya-Nap-Paralymni and then to Kavo Greco. Going north of the cape, the route passes by Konnos to Protaras. From there it continues to the region of Agia Triad, where it turns left, towards Paralymni. Then you need to turn off to the derinia, from where the route leads back to Larnak.

Difficulty: a simple route, a highway with 18 speeds is required. The surface: asphalt road. Sprinkle: 93.6 km. Subject high point: 87 m. Sama low point: 1 m. Relief: plain.

The route begins to Kofin, first goes to the south, and then to the south-west, so that to Limassol, passing through the villages and areas of Hirokitia, Moni, Amatus and Germasoya. From Limassol, he goes west, in the direction of curtains, Fasuri and Kurion to the stone of Aphrodite, from where he turns to the north-west, ending near the castle of Paphos.

Surface: Asphalt road. Closure: Highness. Smile: 114 km. Subject high point: 202 Minlor: Mixed.

 

Nicosia - Solea Valley

The route begins from Nicosia and follows on the way to Agagi Marina, passes past the lady of Xiliatos to the villages of Sarandi and Spilia. In the village of Hegios Theodoros, the route crosses the main road Nicosia - Troodos and reaches Kato Flus, from where it follows the south, passing along the Karkotis River, through the villages of Eurych, Kalian, Galata and Kacopetria. Continuing to move along the road of Kacotropia - Prodroos, the route begins to rise towards the temple of St. Nicholas “under the roof”, and after the Protromos, turns to the right, towards the valley of Marafas and the villages of Pedulas, Mutullas and Kalopanaiotis. From there it is sent in the north-east direction, to the village of Kurefas, located on the banks of the Elia River. Then the road rises to the villages of Nikitari and Byzakia. From there, the return trip begins through Kato Moni, Meniko and Paleometoo, ending in the agia Trimyphias.

Surface: Asphalt coating. Serving: 156.4 km. Subject high point: 1,338 m.

Limassol - Fasuri - Pakhna

The route passes through the villages west of Limassol, past traditional wineries, on a picturesque road to Fasuri, bypassing the Kurion. 

From the intersection to the new port, the route goes to the west, in the direction of resolving. For about 15 km you are driving along citrus gardens. The village of Asomatos and the settlement of Fasuri are the main areas of cultivation of oranges in the Limassol region. The road passes past the temple of St. Yermogen, Archaeological Park on Kurion and Beach. Then it rises steeply for 1 km and reaches the ancient stadium of the Kurion and the sanctuary of Apollo Ilatis. Further, the route passes through the military base to Episcopes and the village of Paramali, from where it turns to the north, in the direction of Avdima and Prastio, until it reaches the gigan, the main wine village of the region. In the Kivides area, the route offers an exciting view to the east, the city and the sea, spread out in all its glory. A direct road leading to Suni and Kandu allows you to rest a little and enjoy the countryside. Soon after Kandu, Erimi follows, the village located on the old road Limassol - Paphos. From there The route turns east, and then to the Colossium and its medieval castle. The return trip to Limassol lies through Fasuri.

Gloriness: a relatively long, but simple route, with the exception of a few steep lifting, which require a bicycle at speeds. Office: asphalt coating.
