The head of the Statue of Liberty in Nicosia was covered with a scarf

Unknown people placed a Palestinian keffiyeh on the head of the Statue of Liberty in the center of Nicosia. This was reported on the evening of Friday, October 10, by Alpha TV channel, publishing photographs sent by residents of the capital of Cyprus.  

“The reaction was mixed: some passers-by were outraged by this act, others associated it with the celebration of the agreement and ceasefire in the Gaza Strip,” the TV channel notes, clarifying that it is not yet clear who did it.

Keffiyeh

- a traditional Bedouin scarf made of white cotton with a black or red check. Protects from sun, wind and dust. It is one of the most recognizable symbols of Palestine. Another name is arafatka.
