For his pioneering work in spreading instability in construction and materials, with applications in offshore pipelines, memory alloys and complex materials, he was awarded an honorary doctorate at the University of Cyprus, Professor Stelios.
According to a statement from the University of Cyprus, Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, Panos Papanastasiou, speaking at the Alert Ceremony said that "Cyprus is internationally honored by scientists who excel abroad and are the best ambassadors".
He added that "this honorary recognition coincided with the opening of the new state -of -the -art facilities of the Polytechnic School, marking a historic moment for the University of Cyprus and the Cypriot scientific community".
As Mr Papanastasiou said, "the awarding of the honorary doctorate is a tangible indication of gratitude and recognition to his distinguished work and morality".
In his disagreement, Mr. Kyriakidis thanked the University of Cyprus for the awarding of the Honorary Doctor's honor, noting that this distinction is particularly important because of his Cypriot origin.
In his speech entitled "Lessons from My Forty-Five Years in Research", he shared lessons from his career in research and academic teaching, as well as his life, emphasizing the value of knowledge, persistent and hard work.
Mr. Kyriakidis pointed out that deep understanding of problems can open new paths to science and urged young/young researchers to cultivate their scientific curiosity, seeking the new and original, invest in morality and cooperation.
For the University of Cyprus he said that he has evolved into an excellent pride in an excellent institution, noting that in order to gain a higher position on the international academic map, it is necessary to provide undergraduate curricula and in English, to attract leaders and leaders.

During the proclamation, the resolution was read by the Dean of the Polytechnic School, Professor Marina Neophytou, followed by an investment by the rector of the University of Cyprus by the Rector.
Following the alert ceremony, visitors were guided to the new buildings and innovative workshops of the Technical School, such as the Seismic Bank, the 3D metal printing workshop and the 6G wireless telecommunications laboratory. The event ended with a welcome reception and live saxophone music.
