Nicosia Central Hospital is a threat to patients and staff

The Nikosi branch of the Green Party expressed serious concern in connection with the critical condition of the central hospital of the capital, especially its oncological department.

According to activists, the situation in the medical institution poses a real threat to health and safety of both patients and employees.

Despite the fact that during the recent visit of the President of the Republic, the hospital was called the “Middle Age”, the facts collected by activists indicate the opposite. According to them, the building suffers from many infrastructure problems and does not meet the basic requirements of operation and sanitation.

The report “Green” records serious violations of labor protection and fire safety. In particular, the sewer system is unstable - it is not connected to the common city network, which causes regular wastewater leaks.

In addition, shortcomings were revealed that can lead to tragic consequences: emergency outputs do not function, and the building does not have a valid permit from the fire service.

The state of the oncological department is the greatest alarm. The Association of Oncological Patients Elazo also confirms: sanitary conditions are worsening, and the separation further from the concept of “medical standard”.

Published photos of the basements of the central hospital show piles of written -off equipment and furniture abandoned in a chaotic mess. It is reported that the premises are often noticed by birds, rodents, fleas, bugs and even reptiles.

“At the moment, the main medical center of the capital does not just comply with the standards - it is a direct danger to others. Instead of solving the problem, the leadership of the institution prefers to silence it, ”the party said.

Activists turned to the Ministry of Health and the Government with the demand to urgently intervene and eliminate violations.
