January 7, 2026 | 20:30 | Rialto Theatre
The year begins at the Rialto Theater with the screening of the film Bugonia by the acclaimed director Giorgos Lanthimos on January 7, 20:30. A darkly satirical and riveting psychological thriller, moving ingeniously between social allegory and genre tension.
Two young men, obsessed with conspiracy theories, kidnap the dynamic CEO of a major corporation, convinced that she is an alien entity intent on destroying humanity. What begins as an irrational and paranoid act evolves into a dangerous game of power, control and delusion, challenging the boundaries of truth and reason.
In the lead roles we meet Emma Stone, together with Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis, while the performances of Stavros Halkias, Alicia Silverstone and Vanessa Eng also stand out. The script is written by Will Tracy (Succession, The Menu), based on the Korean cult film Save the Green Planet! by Jang Joon-hwan. The director of photography is Robbie Ryan, while the music is composed by Jerskin Fendrix (Poor Things).
The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Lion and won the Green Drop Award. In addition, it has been recognized as one of the Films of the Year by the American Film Institute (AFI). The production is signed by, among others, Ed Guiney, Emma Stone and Ari Aster, confirming the contemporary, daring and multi-layered nature of the work.
