The lawyer demands an immediate arrest of persons who made illegal removal of police officers in the fields of Cyprus.

On July 18, the police announced the extension of the removal of two police officers from work for another month, Pe. The video of the incident previously caused a wide public outcry.
The lawyer of one of the police officers expressed serious concern of both the course of the investigation and public resonance. In particular, the defender is asking the question of what is the purpose of further removal of his client, why the case is being investigated for so long and what the information leak in the media is connected with. In addition, he indicates the fact of public discussion and the ongoing bullying, which, in his opinion, leads to the stigmatization of a police officer.
The police have not yet commented on the statement of the lawyer. The investigation continues.
“First of all, I would like to know what public debate is about whether access to information will be extended, and how further removal from the work of my client will serve as an investigation of this case after so much time, as well as leaks in the press from the police, in addition to its further persecution and stigmatization.
A person who conveyed to all the media the illegal video of dubious quality and reliability, published on 17.06.2025, is still free. I want to emphasize that the crimes that are imputed to him are much more serious than those that are investigated in relation to my client, as well as the internal leaks of her information that led to her identification after the incorrect actions of the police.
I had great doubts about the statements of the police representative regarding the authenticity of the video from the first day of its publication, made to create a hype and entertain the public.
In addition, I was deeply upset by the fact that the police made unacceptable official statements on the above issue a week before the persons or persons who illegally made a video were taken. Let me remind you that such a shooting violates Article 15 of the Constitution and 8 ECHF.
The fact that the person or persons involved in the case are still free, raises many questions. The situation becomes even more alarming if the police are approved by the assistant prosecutor of the republic - especially in the European state, recently convicted by the European Court of Human Rights for the consideration of a case regarding a vulnerable person.
In this case, our client, as before, is deprived of access to information about a person who illegally distributed a video material of dubious content. Without this information, she cannot file an official complaint.
I also want to note: the spread of unnecessary and electoral information by the leadership of the police through leaks in the media in such a simple case from the point of view of the investigation turned it into a large -scale problem. Let me remind you that my client has already been called more than six times for various investigative actions - despite the fact that all the necessary procedures could be completed in a maximum of two meetings and in conditions guaranteeing the protection of her personality. Instead, the process leading to its public discredit continues.
In addition, as it became known today, its “accessibility” within the framework of disciplinary proceedings, which, probably still remained, was disproportionately extended. This creates unjustified suffering and a state of legal uncertainty for her - after all, when criminal proceedings, a disciplinary case, as a rule, is suspended before its completion.
Dear gentleman, the chief of the police, let the justice of performing their functions freely and independently - even if criminal or disciplinary offenses are identified. Do not use this family tragedy to achieve political goals, attack the mother of four children for the sake of someone’s image or demonstrate excessive severity while the country has really serious problems that require your urgent attention.
