2023. I managed to find new ideas, formats, its place in a changing world

2023. I managed to find new ideas, formats, its place in a changing world

We continue, a year after year, to talk about the history of the "Herald of Cyprus", which in July 2025 celebrates its thirty years. In 2023, we restored four major events, transferred the site to a new platform, began to meet with mayors and members of the government again, launched new projects and services. Life continues!

Anniversary forum - new page

Here! Finally! What was planned for 2020. The 10th Health & Beauty Forum took place on a grand scale, as it should be in the anniversary year. Lectures, seminars, master classes, concerts, competitions. Demonstration of Yoga and Zumba techniques, tastings and consultations, contests and draws. We have been waiting for this for so long. From this moment, it seems that we have become ourselves again. Those “Cyprus messenger”, who, with perfectionism and attention to the details, organizes interesting events. Three thousand guests came to the forum.

New applications - a storehouse of information

In 2023, in each issue of the newspaper there was a new application. In the spring - about beauty, in the summer - about travel and tourism, in the fall - a tab by education, in winter - on Christmas and New Year's holidays.

In addition, useful information was in the section of private ads and in the Russian -speaking doctors' column, which was published in a newspaper from the nineties (!). Only now, when almost all the doctors joined the Hesia system, in our heading they became smaller and less. All the more valuable were the contacts of those who else could come without a preliminary record for six months. Orthodox theme was always important to us: in each issue of the newspaper, two pages are released that the parish prepared for us. And recipes? It is even difficult to calculate how much we have already published. More than five hundred for sure, about a thousand we are approaching. These are mainly recipes for Cyprus and Greek cuisine - the cultural component is also important to us. History, art, traditions, literature, archeology ... What topics were not raised in the newspaper for thirty years of its history!

Meetings at all levels - we are again in business!

This year, presidential elections were held and we, as in previous years, again interviewed the ministers. At the same time, they told them about the life of Russian -speaking residents of Cyprus. By that time, we had already closed the Association of Russian-speaking residents of Cyprus (she could not work in Covid, and besides, almost all its founders left Cyprus-our employees, who from 2006 to about 2015-2016 were very actively engaged in public work). But all the same - without the association - the "Bulletin of Cyprus" continued to unite people, organized useful meetings - from the mayor to the head of the police, from people of art to successful entrepreneurs. Choose original places and ideas. So, for example, in 2023 we arranged a reception at ... an aluminum factory. Our readers could not even imagine that Limassol had real industrial production, known far beyond the island. During the year, we held events in the most unusual places.

Foreign architects and interior designers, together with SBL Club members on excursions at the Muskita factory, children are an important topic for us

Has always been. And it remains. It began since 2001 when we organized the first children's New Year's matinee in Cyprus. In our archive there are photos from our children's international festivals, from the days of children's creativity, from chess tournaments and family competitions. In 2023, we again organized a children's book fair. Well, in the newspaper we always had at least one children's page: there were puzzles and tasks and the winner of each issue was awarded a sweet gift. For 10-12 years, hundreds of young wise men and clever people felt like the heroes of the day.

From now on, our priority is the organization of meetings for the business community

When Kovid began, I thought that I personally know about 6 thousand business people in Cyprus. Half of them are business leaders. We continued to work with them.

Since 2011, we had a printed journal Successful Business and its site that supply people with news and analytics. Since 2012, we began to organize foreign trips for various delegations; since 2014, large business conferences in Cyprus began to hold. And finally, since 2020, we focused on working with business managers through a private business club and a large community of my personal contacts in Linkedin. Now, in 2023, we held a record number of private meetings in groups of 4-10 participants-our goal, to introduce business managers with each other, to give them the opportunity to discuss potential cooperation.

In 2023, we were again able to organize an investment forum and a legal conference. After the restrictions, it was very pleasant.

Hundreds of hours of work of the editorial office remain behind the scenes: preparation of programs, partnership agreements, communication with speakers and sponsors, room design, scene, sound, photo, video, publication. The event is being prepared for six months, we no longer have time to relax in a week, on the day of the event everything goes on autopilot, but visitors do not see “backstage work” and only praise for an excellent organization. Then another 2-3 days are needed to restore strength. After the events, the whole editorial office walks around the office, shuffling his feet from fatigue. But a week passes ... and we are again in business. So we live.

It is impossible to work in the "Bulletin of Cyprus", if you do not like your job, you do not live. This, be that as it may, mainly public work, is enthusiastic about and for the idea. Of the ten current newspaper employees, four have been working in it for about (or more) 20 years, three more-12-15 years. So we live. For us, this is more than the place of work. This is a way of life.
