In 2019, Vestnik Cyprus was finally established in the role of not just a newspaper, but an active, multifaceted and dynamic media platform working for all residents of Cyprus-regardless of language, citizenship or kind of classes. That year we write, translate, advise, organize forums, establish dialogue with the authorities, open clubs and create digital services. Each new project appeared because we carefully listened to our readers - and did everything possible to make life on the island a little more convenient, cleaner, more interesting and conscious. Now we know that this was the last year of “normal life” - the editorial staff familiar and understandable to all employees. The next 2020, another test of strength awaits us, but so far we do not even assume that we need to prepare - in 2019 everything went on as usual in the editorial office of the “Bulletin of Cyprus”.
The group was divided into two parts
The most important internal event of this time was the retirement of a person who was headed by the Board of Directors of the “Vestnik Cyprus” since 1997. Igor Alekseevich Nosonov decided to leave active business management and move away from public work. For the simplicity of calculations, we divided our group of companies into two parts: the educational center and the translation bureau, which were coordinated by the stronger manager, were now exclusively in the jurisdiction of Igor Nosonov. Everything worked there like a clock and could function unattended. And the responsibility for the rest of the troublesome farm - the publishing house and the events - completely fell on the shoulders of Natalia Kardash: here I constantly had to improvise and change. The second office was removed 200 meters from the main one, this allowed the educational center to occupy the editorial rooms for classes, and the editorial office-to get a more spacious room with a separate conference room.
The site has become an independent media
On our site that year, five (!) Times more texts began to appear that year. After all, we have long been not a weekly newspaper, but daily media-and began to look at the site as a separate online publication. To begin with, we held a series of meetings of the employees of the editorial office of the “Vestnik Cyprus” with the initiative group of readers. In a friendly environment, the pressing problems were discussed that excite the inhabitants of Limassol, and the ways to solve these problems. The main one was associated with garbage - its cleaning, sorting and timely removal - as well as with the absence of janitors and uncontrolled waste emissions. Since then, we began to monitor these topics, constantly reporting readers about progress. That is, the texts of the site have already been created on the initiative and with the help of readers.
Here, for example, together with the municipalities of Limassol and the Hermasy, VK launched the environmental action “Pure Limassol: now and always!” We invited readers to send us photos and addresses of the places where they found garbage. All information was promptly transmitted to the municipal authorities that organized cleaning.
Health Beauty Forum: New City, New Experience
The largest event of spring was Health & Beauty Forum, which was already held for the ninth time, but for the first time in the capital of Cyprus. We were not known in Nicosia, and the first forum there was a real test. In Limassol, up to 70% of visitors are Russian -speaking people, while in the capital of our public, Cypriots became. Such events are attended by those who like to compare prices and quality, are interested in new products and would like to talk with specialists before paying for a procedure or advertised cosmetic product. In one place at one time there are more than two hundred specialists: doctors, cosmetologists, manufacturers, suppliers, representatives of international brands. Athletes, coaches, nutritionists, consultants offer their services, give lectures, conduct master classes. Makeup artists, hairdressers, stylists show how to transform a person in a matter of minutes. And due to the fact that dozens of free master classes and lectures are held on the forum daily, Many visitors spend almost the whole day with us.
The conference became a congress
In May, the fifth anniversary conference Best Invest was held, and for the first time we used the word “Congress” to describe this project, since this significant event has long grown the conference format.
The Best Invest project was a conference in which the heads of investment, consulting, financial companies and organizations have always been attended. In addition, this is an exhibition of investment projects. Most of them are associated with real estate, but each time we tried to attract companies from other sectors - for example, shipping, tourism, IT, energy, and medicine. Best Invest is also an opportunity to learn more about the most important initiatives. In particular, presentations of the largest Cypriot construction projects have always been held for the general public at the Best Invest.
In addition to all this, Congress has become a platform for international meetings. Together with the Indian colleagues, we already held the third annual working meeting “Cyprus - India”. The second time they gathered the round table “Cyprus - the Middle East” and discussed the prospects for cooperation of the republic with the Arab countries. The first time organized the Russian-Khrusk meeting.
And, of course, they held a solemn technique that met people working in the field of international business. Through such projects as ours, new connections are made, partnerships are formed, and horizons are expanding. Given the high level of the participants and the fact that we went beyond the plenary meetings, the conference was decided to now call the investment congress.
State support of the Cyprus-Russian festival
President Nicos Anastasiadis at the official opening ceremony of the XIV Cyprus-Russian festival, which has been held under the auspices of the head of state since 2011, announced the decision of the Cyprus government to allocate annual financial assistance to the festival. For us, the organizers, this is great news: for the first time in 14 years, the Cyprus state decided to allocate funds for this largest festival of friendship with Russia in the European Union. In 2019, the Russians were the second largest tourist market in Cyprus, as well as the main partner in the business plan - thousands of Russian companies worked with the whole world through Cyprus, tens of thousands of Russians chose the island with their house.
New look at Larnaca
In July, in the Historical Center of Larnaki, a business reception was held, organized by the Successful Business magazine as part of a campaign to promote the city as a business center. The editorial office of the magazine, together with the mayor's and industrial and industrial ward, has worked on the city’s image since March, trying to show its advantages as a convenient center for doing business and as a direction for investment.
At meetings with dozens of owners of companies based in Larnac, strategy and further steps were discussed. A presentation of proposals prepared by a “successful business” was held, which was attended by leading businessmen of the city. Most of the special issue of the magazine was devoted to business in Larnac and prospects for further development.
And finally, a reception took place at which the program participants could meet each other and potential investors and business partners.
Private club for business leaders
In 2019, at the initiative of the Successful Business magazine, Successful Business Leaders Club was created - a private business club for business owners and first persons of Cyprus local and international companies. His first meeting took place in January next year.
The main task is to unite successful people with different experience and from different countries. The difference between this organization and business associations is that it is individual membership in it, and meetings were planned only in mini-groups. And most importantly - there should not be strangers in the club. The founder of the club invites only those with whom he is well familiar and has been working to participate. Initially, I thought that I would limit myself exclusively by dinners and dinners for 6-8 people and private meetings, during which I would introduce the club members with each other. Time has shown that the potential of the club is much wider.
