This year was remembered by us the first in the history of the Cyprus-Russian festival to gathered thousands of people on Limassol embankment. Later, the festival “moved” to the municipal park: to accommodate all the spectators, a theater was needed, and for dozens of events held as part of the festival, there was no longer enough space on the embankment.
The newspaper has long gone beyond the limits of the media business. Now the “Bulletin of Cyprus” was a group of several companies: publishing house, events, educational center, translation bureau, and this year it became clear that it was necessary to create an association of Russian compatriots that supports all Russian -speaking residents of Cyprus.
Every year we came up with new and new holidays. We really wanted not only to personally meet with the reader, but also to publish as many photos as possible in the newspaper so that everyone could leave a tenderloin as a keepsake. With the advent of websites, it has become easier: now thousands, tens of thousands of our photographs are stored on the Web.
Gradually, the number increased and the quality of the Vestnik Cyprus increased. If we started something good, we tried not to leave, only improving every year. Then we finally convinced that not all our projects can be implemented within the framework of the newspaper. Three secretaries worked for us, since the editor was always crowded: someone came to give advertising or order a translation from us, others-to the library, and others to the educational center. Many immediately began to share their stories, asked for advice, asked to help in solving some issues. It became clear that we needed a non -profit organization that will turn to various instances on behalf of the Russian -speaking community and defend its interests. We began to prepare documents and attract like -minded people to create an association of Russian -speaking residents of Cyprus.
