2003. Sturrent period: magazines, courses, reference books

We continue the story of how the fate of the first Russian -speaking newspaper in Cyprus developed. This year the “Bulletin of Cyprus” celebrates his thirtieth anniversary, and this is a good reason to recall how the newspaper developed and the Russian -speaking community of Cyprus was formed.

Since 2001, we began to issue applications to the newspaper and, then, magazines. The first was Limassol shops, and in 2003 the Cyprus Real Estate magazine was born. It was conceived as a pocket format, but a few years later turned into a full -format glossy magazine called “Home and People”.

At that time, a lot of real estate was sold, and there was almost no reliable information about the market. So we got to the point, and readers analyzed the entire circulation of a free magazine on the very first days after the release. Then the Cyprus Restaurants magazine was launched, where we talked not only about the most interesting institutions, but also published recipes for Cyprus cuisine. Then the light saw the telephone directory “Yellow Pages of Cyprus” - the first Russian -speaking reference publication. Then there was nowhere to see the phones of Russian -speaking specialists - and our directory turned out to be an indispensable source of information. Over time, our printed magazines have “moved” to the Internet, now all this information can be found on the website of the “Bulletin of Cyprus”.

In 2003, more than 20 people took part in the creation of each issue of the newspaper. Every week there were hundreds of people in the Vestnik Cyprus office, because the newspaper worked as a library, video club, foreign language courses, and public reception. The newspaper was known not only in Cyprus, but also far beyond its borders.

The editors of the VK turned into a universally recognized center of the Russian -speaking community of Limassol and one of the largest public centers in Cyprus. A new concept has been formed: “Our mission is to help strengthen friendship and expand the interaction between Cyprus and Russia, working at various levels: from state structures to children's centers and public organizations.” From now on, we tried to take an active part in the formation of a Russian -speaking diaspora in Cyprus and creating all the necessary conditions for its existence.
