The story of the “Herald of Cyprus” is a mosaic from situations related to everyday questions, with Cypriot news, with people who worked in the newspaper and those who read it, with the events at which these people met. The first large event was a real test.
Fragment from the book of Natalia Kardash “20 years in Cyprus - in the center of events”:
“When we first decided to celebrate the birthday of“ Bulletin of Cyprus ”(who turned seven years old), about a thousand people came to congratulate the newspaper. I still remember that day in the Limassol water park: there were only seven of us at that time and there was no one to help in organizational matters. We worked for a long time on the preparation (we even baked a cake and thought out an amateur concert program), and on the day of the event it turned out that the most difficult thing was to talk with the guests. The editors did not expect such an influx of readers, but each of them wanted to personally talk with the newspaper’s employee, share their history, express wishes and suggestions, praise, thank ... with difficulty, but we coped: all the employees lost their voice, in the evening we could not even move from fatigue, but were absolutely happy. The holiday was a success! We received a huge number of positive responses. That birthday was our first free holiday for Russian -speaking community and the most valuable and memorable experience.
And then children's festivals, competitions, exhibitions, competitions appeared. And the experience was added each time.
In 2002, Vestnik Cyprus first took part in the work of the World Congress of the Russian Press, at which 200–250 leaders of Russian -speaking newspapers, magazines, radio stations and television channels working outside Russia gathered annually. I met many friends and like -minded people there, we still communicate, maintaining communication despite the distance. The troubles and joys of the publishers are common and practically independent of the country of residence. We speak the same language in the literal and figurative sense.
By the end of the year, the newspaper grew to 40 lanes, and on December 30 the first large New Year's Eve was organized in the history of Cyprus for Russian -speaking residents and guests of the island. Since then, we regularly spent such evenings in addition to our New Year's matinees. ”
