On the evening of Monday, September 22, in the area of Germasoya, Limassol, there was a serious fire on the second floor of a residential building, as a result of which one person suffered, and all the residents of the three -story building had to be evacuated.
The signal of the fire entered the salvation service at 23:19. Three fire engines and an auto lift from the Hagios Nicholas station were sent to the place.
The fiery element was taken under control only by 00:22 after almost three hours of continuous work. The flame caused serious damage to the apartment, completely destroying the furniture and damaging the neighboring rooms, including the general zones of the floor and the apartment located nearby.
Firefighters, together with the police, decided to fully evacuate the house in order to exclude the risk for residents.
At the time of the fire, there were two residents in the apartment. One of them tried to escape through the window, jumping out, and was taken to the General Hospital of Limassol with injuries. The second managed to go through the door without serious consequences.
According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was an attempt to light a gas stove. The gas leak arose at the junction of the flexible hose of the cylinder with the stove, which led to ignition.
