On Friday evening, September 19, an 89-year-old resident of Paralymni, Mila Gliken, died tragically as a result of a traffic accident. A deadly accident occurred on Protaras Avenue, in the Famagusta area.
Around 17:55, an elderly woman crossed the road when she was knocked down by a passenger car. At the wheel of the vehicle was a 31-year-old driver. All the circumstances of the incident are currently being clarified.
The police immediately arrived at the scene for investigative actions. The victim was first taken to the Famagusta hospital, and then transported to the central hospital of Nicosia. Despite the efforts of the doctors, it was not possible to save the woman - at about 02:00 in the morning she died.
The case is investigated by the local police station together with the Famagusta district road supervision department. A detailed study of all the circumstances of the incident is underway, including the possible causes of the accident and the actions of road users.
