A 48-year-old police officer named Sotiris Constantinou died on the night of Wednesday, January 8, while on duty.
According to the police report, at around 20:50 pm, Konstantinou was driving a company car along Makarios Avenue in Larnaca towards the city center from the port, accompanied by his colleague. Suddenly, the man felt severe pain in his chest and stopped the car in the left lane of the road.
The man's colleague came out to approach him and provide assistance. However, before he could do this, the car began to move. The car hit a street pole and stopped.
An ambulance was called to the scene and paramedics attempted to provide first aid to the 48-year-old officer. He was taken to Larnaca General Hospital. Despite the best efforts of doctors, Constantinou died shortly before 10:00 pm due to cardiac arrest.
