Members of the fire service rescued three people trapped in their car on Saturday, October 19, at a salt lake in Larnaca.
This was announced by fire department spokesman Andreas Kettis on Sunday, October 20.
According to him, three people were trapped. After they realized that they could not get out on their own, they turned to rescuers for help. Fire service personnel immediately rushed to the scene of the emergency and managed to rescue the victims.
Kettis noted that people constantly neglect safety rules and walk along the salt crust far from the shore.
Everyone knows that in summer the lakes in Larnaca dry up, and instead of water, a layer of salt appears on them. But only near the shore can you safely walk on the white crystals, but closer to the center of the lake there may be traps. Under the crust of salt, liquid mud is sometimes hidden, as well as a mixture of salt and water, similar to swell. Once you get into it, it is impossible to get out on your own.
