For emails, allegedly for a tax refund aimed at stealing details of the bank account of unsuspecting citizens or other personal information, with the Gov.cy Government Portal logo, the tax department warns and urges those who receive such or similar messages.
Specifically, as stated in a statement from the Department, "undesirable emails are circulating with the Gov.cy Government Portal, which encourage unsuspecting citizens to scan a QR (QR code) code in order to receive a tax refund."
They are also cited as a contact address, "an incorrect email address with reference to the new TAX FOR ALL (TFA) computer system" is added.
The Department of Taxation draws the attention of the citizens that "such messages are intended to steal data from the bank account of unsuspecting citizens or other personal information, and the Department of Taxation urges those who receive such or similar messages to ignore them".
It should be noted that Value Added Tax Refunds (VAT), Income Tax etc. They are only made by transferring to a bank account, the IBAN declared by the taxpayer in the department, with safe procedures.
It is also emphasized that "any communication of the Department of Taxation with taxpayers through emails is only carried out through e -mails, which expire in: @tax.mof.gov.cy".
