Annual Jump 25.2% in September on car registrations, at 4.7% the share of electricity in 2025

A significant 25.2% increase in September 2025, total motor vehicle registrations, compared to last September, while the share of electric vehicles increased to 4.7% in 2025, from 3.6% in 2024 and hybrids to 44%, from 36.7%

Specifically, according to the "Motor Vehicle Registration" report covering the Statistical Service in January - September 2025, total motor vehicle registrations amounted to 5,544 in September 2025, compared to 4,428 in September 2024.

Salun passenger registrations increased by 26.8% to 4,364, from 3,442 in September 2024.

Regarding the main developments in vehicles during the period January - September 2025, compared to the corresponding period of 2024, the Statistical Service states that the total number of registered vehicles increased by 3.6% in January - September 2025 and reached 40.212.

Salun passenger registrations increased by 3.2% and reached 31,325, compared to 30,344 in the corresponding period of 2024.

Of the total passenger cars, 11,806 or 37.7% were new and 19,519 or 62.3% were used cars.

Rental cars in particular showed an increase of 32.6% to 4,559.

Moreover, the share of salon carnage in all of this category of vehicles decreased in January -September 2025 to 42.8% (from 49.7% in the corresponding period of 2024), as well as the share of diesel (from 9.9% in 2024 to 8.5% in 2025).

On the contrary, the share of electric motors (from 3.6% in 2024 to 4.7% in 2025) and hybrids increased (from 36.7% to 44.0%).

Also, according to the Statistical Service, bus registrations increased in 132 in January-September 2025, from 119 in the same period in 2024.

Loader transfer vehicles increased to 4,569 in January - September 2025, compared to 4,311 in the corresponding period of 2024, increasing 6.0%.

Specifically, rental vehicles increased by 17.5% to 215, heavy trucks by 6.0% to 534, light trucks by 5.7% to 3,650, while road tractors remained at the same time as last year at 170.

Motor bodies <50K were reduced to 170 in the period January-September 2025, compared to 603 in the same period in 2024.

Finally, motorcycle records> 50K increased by 20.1% to 3,522 in January - September 2025, compared to 2,933 in the same period of 2024.
