On February 16, the bus, transporting players and coaches of Apoel, was attacked by unknown people who threw the vehicle with stones.
The incident occurred on the way to Nikosia after the victory of the team with a score of 2: 1 over Limassol Ale at the AlphaMega stadium.
According to the representative of the police, Kiriaki Lambrianid, the attackers defeated the glass in the middle door of the bus and one of the side mirrors. The attackers disappeared from the scene.
The Sunday match was held without spectators. The decision on closed stands was made after the Ael fans were thrown by players and coaches of Nea Salamina during the game of January 24th.
Earlier this month, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the bill, which gives the authorities the right to prohibit fans attend football matches in exceptional cases. Prior to this, only the Cyprus football association (CFA) could make such decisions.
