The city park on Salalamino Street in the municipality of Ceri in Nicosia was again subjected to vandalism - for the fourth time in the last year.
According to representatives of the municipality, the damage was significant, and constant cases of destruction cause serious concern.
The official statement notes that the problem goes far beyond the financial costs of restoration: it reflects the lack of respect for public property and the residents of the city themselves. The municipality has already begun to repair damage and promised to strengthen measures to protect public spaces.
The authorities urged residents to show vigilance and actively cooperate with the police and municipal services - to report on any suspicious actions or attempts of vandalism.
“Public spaces belong to all of us, and we must protect them,” the representatives of the municipality emphasized.
Cases of vandalism in Cyprus, especially in parks and playgrounds, have become more frequent in recent months. According to Cyprus media, such incidents are also recorded in Nicosia and Limassol, where municipalities are considering the possibility of installing additional observation cameras and attracting volunteers to the protection of green zones. At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Cyprus said that he was considering the issue of strengthening administrative responsibility for damage to public property.
