Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law changes that give Moscow the right to ignore rulings in criminal cases handed down by foreign and international courts.
The move appears to be a response to efforts to prosecute Russian political and military officials for war crimes in Ukraine.
Already, the International Criminal Court in The Hague has issued arrest warrants for Putin and five other Russian officials, accused of illegally removing hundreds of children from Ukraine.
Also, through an International Claims Commission, attempts are being made to ensure that Kiev receives hundreds of billions of dollars in reparations for alleged war crimes and damage caused by Russian attacks.
