A young woman, injured and stranded on a rock near the chapel of St. Elizabeth at Agios Ambrosios in the Limassol area, was brought to safety on Saturday 19 October at lunchtime after a large-scale rescue operation began.
The rescue team included members of the fire department, police and special forces.
Fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said the call for help came in at 6:25 pm on Friday and forces were immediately mobilized to rescue the foreigner. According to him, she suffered a leg injury and ended up on a rock covered with dense wild vegetation.
Rescuers carried her on a stretcher to a farm road, where an ambulance was waiting, ready to take her to Limassol General Hospital.
