The death toll from influenza A in Cyprus has risen to three.
On Wednesday, January 8, a 43-year-old man died at Nicosia Central Hospital, and on Thursday, January 9, two patients, aged 87 and 73, who were being treated at Nicosia and Paphos General Hospitals, respectively, died.
All three suffered from concomitant diseases. Meanwhile, other patients are being intubated in hospitals across the island.
Hospitals continue to be under significant strain, with most exceeding 90 percent occupancy. The exception is Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, where wards are filled to 60 percent of their possible capacity.
Hundreds of patients continue to visit the island's hospitals every day. Many have been diagnosed with: influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and COVID-19. At the same time, more than 200 patients are admitted to the central hospital of Nicosia every day from other cities.
