In response to recent forest fires that led to the loss of jobs in the Limassol area, the Minister of Labor Yannis Panayota announced the launch of a “financial support plan” in the amount of 1.3 million euros.
This plan, approved by the government at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, is aimed at assisting people whose workplaces or means of labor suffered.
Panayota emphasized that the first payments are planned to be made before the end of August. The program will be valid until October and can be extended depending on the restoration of the economy in the affected areas. Within the framework of the payment plan, they will comply with the previous wages of employees using the data of the Social Insurance Fund.
The minister assured that the process of obtaining compensation will be as simplified as possible, and communication with the beneficiaries will begin immediately. He also noted that payments will provide stable income for workers and help maintain the personnel potential of enterprises in the region.
The Ministry of Labor actively interacts with the local authorities and the Department of Agriculture to assess the damage and determine the number of recipients of assistance. Panayota emphasized that the purpose of the program is the rapid restoration and resumption of economic activity in the affected areas.
