Today's meeting of the President of the Republic, with the leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Tufan Erhiurman and the personal envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Maria Angela Holgin, is of exceptional importance in terms of efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue.
Government spokesman Constantinos Letympiotis underlined that President Christodoulidis goes to the tripartite fully prepared, with the sole aim of restarting substantive negotiations for a solution to the Cyprus problem.
He emphasized that the President's aim is to focus on substantive issues and in particular the convening of the next multilateral conference as soon as possible.
The meeting will take place at four in the afternoon, in the area of Nicosia Airport. A little earlier, at three fifteen, President Christodoulidis and Toufan Erhiurman, will visit together, the Anthropological Laboratory of the Investigative Committee for the Missing.
Immediately following the tripartite, leaders of the two communities will attend the Peacekeeping Force's annual year-end reception.
The afternoon contacts of the President of the Republic will be preceded at 8 and 15 in the morning by his meeting with the European Union envoy for the Cyprus issue, Johannes Hahn, at the Presidential Palace.
